Civil Operative (Competent Person – NSI 6 & NSI 8 / HSG47 – Substation)
Hays Civil Engineering are seeking a qualified Civil Operative to support works within a live high‑voltage substation environment. This role requires a Competent Person with the correct National Grid authorisations and a strong awareness of safety protocols for HV access.
Your New Role
You will control access to a live substation in accordance with National Grid NSI Safety Rules, ensuring all personnel, vehicles, and plant enter and exit safely. Responsibilities include supporting groundworks, managing controlled access routes, and maintaining safe working conditions across the substation area.
Essential
- Civil Operative with Competent Person status
- NSI 6 and NSI 8 authorisations
- Experience working in HV substation environments
- Understanding of HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services)
- Ability to manage access/egress for delivery vehicles and plant
- Manual Handling certification
- Must meet standard groundworker requirements
