Housing Officer required by a Housing Association based in Belfast for a period of 12 months

Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a Housing Association based in Belfast, to recruit a Housing Officer on a fixed-term basis for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Your new role

Reporting to the Housing Manager, you will be responsible for managing a patch of properties, ensuring the best use of housing stock, rent and void management and anti-social behaviour. This will include:

Allocating properties in accordance with the Housing Selection Scheme.
Carrying out accompanied property viewings as part of the allocations process.
Signing up new tenants, advising them of the conditions of tenancy, assisting with the completion of housing benefit/UC forms.
Managing rent arrears and other tenant charges.
Maintaining an effective filing and computerised diary system in respect of housing management issues, updating tenant information, support plans, household mix, arrears activity as appropriate.
Undertaking tenant visits, providing a support service for any problems, finding a suitable resolution where possible.
Providing targeted signposting and support to customers in relation to welfare benefits, budgeting, money management, fuel poverty and consumer credit.
Managing anti-social behaviour issues / complaints.
Liaising with the maintenance team to manage stock appropriately.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

A minimum of 1-year experience within the last 5 years in a similar role.
A good understanding of the role and responsibilities of a housing officer.
Knowledge of the Housing Selection Scheme and allocation process.
Knowledge of the Universal Credit / Benefits system.
Knowledge of rent arrears management.
Knowledge of void management
Knowledge of managing Anti -Social Behaviour.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
