Social Workers – Children Safeguarding Teams (Solihull)

Your new company

Solihull Council’s Children’s Services are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are currently recruiting three experienced Social Workers to join our Safeguarding Team, supporting children through Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Court proceedings.
This is a hybrid role based in Solihull, offering a supportive working environment, manageable caseloads, and opportunities for professional development. The team operates a duty rota every 5 weeks, with frontline presence required during duty week.

Your new role

As a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team, you will:
  • Manage a caseload of CIN and CP cases, progressing through to court where necessary
  • Contribute to OFSTED preparation and service development
  • Undertake assessments and develop outcome-focused plans in line with the Children Act
  • Prepare reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes
  • Work hybrid: 2 days in the office weekly, with additional frontline duty every 5 weeks
You will be supported by experienced managers and benefit from regular supervision and training opportunities.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Have at least 3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services
  • Demonstrate recent experience in Child in Need, Child Protection, and Courtwork (we are open to candidates with strengths in one or two of these areas)
  • Have a strong understanding of the Children Act and safeguarding legislation
  • Be a car user with a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Be flexible and committed to delivering high-quality services.
