Senior Social Worker job – Fostering & Assessment Team (Children’s Services) in Solihull

Your new company

Due to the recent expansion of our Fostering service, we currently have a number of new and exciting opportunities for Social Workers to join our service and play a central role in delivering high-quality and responsive social work within Solihull.

Your new role

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, responsive social work that supports children and young people across the borough.

Our team is responsible for:
  • Recruitment, assessment, and supervision of foster carers (both connected and mainstream).
  • Assessing special guardianship and private fostering arrangements.
You’ll work closely with foster carers to ensure children receive safe, nurturing placements and develop the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete fostering assessments and supervise foster carers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with carers and act as a strong corporate parent.
  • Manage a balanced caseload (e.g., approx. 3–4 assessments or 16 supervisions, proportionally adjusted for mixed roles).
  • Attend the office at least 2 days per week and cover duty as required (approx. 2 days every few months).

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Social Worker (BA Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CCS, or CCETSW).
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience in Children’s Services.
  • Completed ASYE.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience in fostering or children’s disability teams (preferred).
