School Business Support Officer – Preston

Your new role

Hays Education are looking for school business support officers with admin, attendance and finance experience to join our friendly and professional school teams based in and around the Preston area. You will be responsible for supporting the school's attendance, front of house, maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and standards and supporting the business manager or senior leadership team with ad hoc office support duties.

These school business support jobs are accepting both full-time and part-time applicants. However, they are term-time only and temporary (4–12 weeks initially). School experience is essential for these job roles and previous experience of the school finance systems and a DBS on the update service would be preferred.

Duties may include:

  • Answering telephone calls and managing messages with courtesy and discretion.
  • Supporting visitors to the school as a point of contact within the main office when required.
  • Supporting day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, banking and ensuring compliance.
  • Auditing accounts and ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
  • Supporting the senior business leaders with budget planning and monitoring
  • Managing correspondence, including drafting and distributing letters and emails.
  • Adhering to school policies relating to health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a school finance environment is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge of SIMS or Arbor and other school systems
  • A friendly, professional, and helpful attitude
  • A high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
