Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer, Design Engineer

Your new company
Hays are working in partnership with a well‑established engineering consultancy that provides comprehensive end‑to‑end services and is currently experiencing sustained growth. As a result, the company is expanding its team. Operating primarily across Donegal with additional projects throughout other impacted counties and Northern Ireland, the organisation delivers specialist support ranging from property testing through to remedial design and full project management under the statutory scheme.

Your new role
As a Graduate Engineer, you will play a key role across all service areas, working closely with clients, technical colleagues and public‑sector partners. This full‑time position offers significant flexibility, blending remote work with regular site visits. It is particularly suited to a motivated engineer from the North West with a strong interest in the defective block crisis.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with clients to determine appropriate service needs
  • Preparing quotations, invoices and service contracts
  • Organising site work schedules and carrying out inspections and sampling
  • Coordinating with technical staff on reporting timelines
  • Drafting technical reports and drawings
  • Supporting remedial works design
  • Liaising with Council and Housing Agency personnel
  • Assisting with general business operations (e.g., website updates, administrative support)
  • Managing client communications
  • Contributing to advertising and new initiatives

What you'll need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working independently
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills
  • Interest in the defective concrete block crisis
  • Enjoyment of both site‑based and desk‑based work
  • Operational management or process‑optimisation capability
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CAD and relevant design software
