Your new company
Hays are working with a well‑established specialist contractor, who are experiencing sustained growth and expanding their operations. As part of this development, they are seeking a Buyer to join their procurement team on a full‑time, permanent basis at their Belfast headquarters.

Your new role
In this role, you will support a range of bespoke, design‑led construction projects by managing procurement activity from sourcing through to delivery. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with project, design and operations teams to plan procurement activity aligned to project specifications.
  • Ensuring materials and services are delivered on time, within agreed cost parameters, and in line with quality standards.
  • Maintaining and updating approved supplier records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Raising purchase orders, monitoring order progress and proactively flagging risks or delays.
  • Identifying cost‑saving opportunities through analysis, benchmarking, and supplier review.
  • Overseeing supplier performance and maintaining strong, effective supplier relationships.
  • Resolving any pricing, delivery, quality, or invoicing discrepancies, including escalating non‑conformances where required.
  • Tracking order values, capturing variations and communicating changes to the wider project team.
  • Providing support to estimating and commercial colleagues on pricing queries and tender submissions.

What you'll need to succeed
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a procurement or buying position, ideally within construction, engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous experience using an ERP system.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach with confidence to contribute ideas for process improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain productive supplier relationships.
