You will be joining a well-established engineering business operating within highly regulated sectors. The organisation is experiencing continued growth and is investing in its procurement function to build a high-performing, resilient supply chain that supports both current production and future product development.
Your new role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement activities to support manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, components and services, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance and supplier performance.
Working closely with engineering, production and supply chain teams, you will support both ongoing production and new product introduction (NPI).
Key responsibilities
Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, RFQs, negotiation, purchase order placement and expediting
Develop and manage supplier relationships across mechanical components, materials and subcontract processing
Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to meet budget and cost targets
Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)
Raise and manage purchase orders and works orders, ensuring accuracy across technical and commercial specifications
Support NPI and design-for-manufacture activities in collaboration with Engineering
Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen supply chain capability
Establish and manage long-term supplier agreements (LTAs)
Ensure strong communication between internal stakeholders and external suppliers
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience within a procurement / purchasing role in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong background in mechanical components and machining supply chains
Knowledge of materials and surface treatments (metals preferred)
Experience using ERP/MRP systems
Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
Ability to read technical drawings (advantageous)
Experience within regulated industries is desirable
