Communications and Marketing Manager 6-month fixed term contract
Job Purpose:
To communicate information and promote the organisation to the borough residents, businesses, councillors, employees, and the media.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Work on communications and marketing projects, aimed at supporting local residents and businesses, with a focus on town centre development.
Relaunch the “Rediscover the Borough” campaign and microsite to promote visits to the borough’s high streets and local centres.
Research and write content for internal and external publications, websites, and intranet, ensuring compliance with UKSPF outputs and outcomes.
Initiate, plan, manage, and evaluate targeted marketing campaigns to increase awareness and promote a positive image of relevant services and activities.
Write and produce press releases to promote relevant services and events.
Actively maintain communication channels, including social media and email newsletters, to ensure all residents can access UKSPF-relevant information.
Take photographs and video footage for use in press releases, articles, online, and on social media for UKSPF projects.
Assist with making relevant updates to the website and intranet using the content management system.
Work closely with internal departments to assist with the production and implementation of relevant departmental marketing plans.
Help promote relevant events, including producing marketing materials and supporting services to coordinate publicity, as well as attending the events.
Qualifications:
Degree in PR, communications, journalism, English, marketing, media or a similar discipline.
Experience of working in either a communications role, in a journalistic capacity in a press/public relations office for a newspaper/magazine or something in a similar role.
Experience of working in a marketing or public relations role.
Experience of writing copy, content, stories and features across a number of communications channels.
Knowledge of current web-based trends, particularly social media.
Experience of graphic design and video editing.
Skills:
Excellent communication skills.
Understanding of the role and function of local authorities.
Ability to analyse sales and marketing data.
