Business Development Manager - Scotland

Your new company

Hays are delighted to be working in partnership with a global engineering firm that is now looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to cover Scotland and the North region.

Your new role

The role focusses on driving business growth through innovative strategies, achieving sales and profit targets, and expanding market presence in line with the businesses strategic goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Business Development & Sales: Implement strategies to secure new sales, meet budget forecasts, and grow chosen market sectors.
  • Networking & Lead Generation: Build relationships with industry players, identify new trends, markets, and business partners.
  • Sector Development: Mature existing sectors and grow emerging ones through planning and account management.
  • Negotiation & Compliance: Conclude agreements with partners, ensure contracts align with business needs, and coordinate with internal teams.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain long-term client relationships, deliver excellent service, and represent clients internally.
  • Market Analysis: Provide insights on competitors and market trends to inform business planning.
  • Sales Culture & Key Accounts: Promote a strong sales culture and collaborate with operations to manage and develop key accounts.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will have a strong background and experience of working across oil & gas, process, power, pharmaceutical markets with broad networks of contacts in each of these areas. You will have an excellent track record in business development and sales conversion and selling on a value basis at a senior level.

  • You will have business development and marketing experience with multidisciplinary maintenance and project frameworks, construction projects and turnarounds.
  • Strong preference for operational experience in sectors such as Oil & Gas. Pharmaceutical, power and process
  • Confident in handling competing priorities and workload in a pressurised environment with strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and success-orientated
  • Travel across Scotland and North
