The Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator to join a leading construction business in Cardiff. This role will have a strong BREEAM focus, supporting the successful delivery of sustainability targets across major construction projects.
You will play a key role in coordinating the main contractor’s BREEAM delivery, ensuring compliance with project requirements and contributing to the achievement of high BREEAM ratings.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage BREEAM delivery on behalf of the main contractor across the project life cycle.
- Work closely with BREEAM requirements and project teams to ensure all credits are understood and actioned.
- Track and monitor BREEAM credits, identifying risks and opportunities to maximise project scores.
- Maintain auditable records and structured evidence files to support certification
- Liaise with BREEAM assessors, consultants, and site teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Support the implementation of environmental and sustainability strategies on-site
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure environmental controls are being followed
- Assist in reporting sustainability performance and progress against project targets
About You
You will have a strong understanding of sustainability within construction, with hands-on experience working with BREEAM frameworks.
Essential:
- Experience in an Environmental / Sustainability role within construction
- Solid understanding of BREEAM processes and requirements
- Experience in tracking credits and managing evidence submissions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain structured documentation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with site teams and stakeholders
Desirable:
- BREEAM Accredited Professional (AP)
- Experience contributing to higher rating BREEAM schemes (e.g. Excellent / Outstanding)
- Familiarity with wider sustainability initiatives (carbon, waste, energy)
