Behaviour Mentor | Blackpool | Secondary School | Start ASAP | Full-time

Your new company

Hays Education are working in close partnership with a supportive and forward‑thinking secondary school in Blackpool to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor. This is a long-term position starting after Easter, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right individual.

Your New Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, providing targeted 1:1 and small‑group support to students who display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural guidance to succeed in school.

You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation, working proactively to help pupils remain in lessons and access learning effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group behavioural support

  • Implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and re-engagement with learning

  • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the SENCO

  • Supporting pupils in line with school behaviour policies and individual needs

    What you’ll need to succeed

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a behavioural, pastoral or mentoring role

  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach to behaviour management

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional behavioural or emotional needs

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
