Hays Education are working in close partnership with a supportive and forward‑thinking secondary school in Blackpool to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor. This is a long-term position starting after Easter, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right individual.
Your New Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, providing targeted 1:1 and small‑group support to students who display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural guidance to succeed in school.
You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation, working proactively to help pupils remain in lessons and access learning effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group behavioural support
Implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
Encouraging positive behaviour and re-engagement with learning
Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the SENCO
Supporting pupils in line with school behaviour policies and individual needs
What you’ll need to succeedPrevious experience working with children or young people in a behavioural, pastoral or mentoring role
A calm, resilient and consistent approach to behaviour management
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional behavioural or emotional needs
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
