School centre Attendance Officer role, South Birmingham, Monday–Friday, to commence after Easter

Your new role

As the school’s Attendance Officer, you will play a vital part in promoting and improving pupil attendance. You’ll work closely with pupils, families, and staff to ensure attendance procedures are followed and that every child has the best chance to thrive.

This is a temporary long-term role, with working hours of 8.30am – 3.30pm. You will require full education vetting with an enhanced DBS.

  • Monitoring and recording daily pupil attendance and punctuality
  • Following up on absences through phone calls, texts, and home–school communication
  • Producing daily, weekly, and termly attendance reports for senior leaders
  • Identifying patterns of concern and supporting early intervention strategies
  • Working with external agencies where necessary to support families
  • Maintaining accurate records using Bromcom or other school systems
  • Supporting statutory returns such as census data
  • Assisting with admissions, leavers, and pupil transitions
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are always followed
  • Providing general administrative support to the school office when required


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous attendance or pastoral experience in a school environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office and school systems (Bromcom desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A calm, professional, and supportive approach when dealing with families
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • The ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities
