Senior Communications Officer - Temporary until March 2026
Your new company
This is a great opportunity to work with this organisation's Communications & Engagement team, leading on Research, Development & Innovation matters in a time of great change. You will support teams across the organisation to plan and produce high-quality communication and engagement initiatives with content that is in line with strategic objectives, tailored to specific audiences both internal and external.
Your new role
Your responsibilities will include planning and delivering creative solutions to complement messages to help foster internal and external awareness of RD&I objectives. You will manage the relevant strategic narratives and messages and ensure they are consistently applied to messages for all audiences. You will deliver and maintain the development of an integrated digital content plan, including evaluation that measures impact, working closely with the Digital Content Manager. You will maintain an ongoing media relations strategy, and identify local, national and international stakeholders and develop tools where appropriate to foster and manage their engagement with programme objectives. You will also work with external agencies as appropriate for the delivery of joint strategy and service development.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have demonstrable experience of managing planned, inclusive and evaluated communications strategies and plans. You will have a track record of developing and delivering communications materials around complex / scientific health matters with the ability to communicate and translate RD&I strategic and operational information to internal and external stakeholders, and deliver key messages to the public. You will support media relations, public affairs, campaigns, internal, and corporate communications by producing copy and multimedia assets for digital channels, including websites, intranet, email and social media, and be able to produce solutions to highlight complex digital communication problems to a range of audiences, using persuasive and negotiating skills.
What you'll get in return
£19.78 p/hour + holiday allowance. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), until the end of March 2026.
Hybrid / flexible working options are available, with a minimum of two days per week on-site in Cardiff.
