Role Overview
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Service Transition Manager to join their team in Milton Keynes. In this pivotal role, you will lead the seamless transition of IT services from development into live operations, ensuring readiness, operational stability, and compliance with service acceptance criteria. Your coordination will help shape the future of how services are introduced, maintained, and retired across the organisation. You’ll work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, to uphold high standards in service delivery.Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day Service Transition activities, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
Provide recommendations for go-live decisions, early-life support, and service acceptance.
Manage the end-to-end transition of new or amended services into Business As Usual (BAU) environments, ensuring acceptance criteria are comprehensive and fully met.
Act as a trusted advisor, building strong working relationships across IT, operations, project teams, and external stakeholders.
Coordinate service transition activities across projects, suppliers, and resolver teams, supporting the adoption of new services.
Offer coaching and guidance to teams on integrating new services, based on a thorough understanding of technical training needs and the service pipeline.
Serve as a key point of contact throughout the transition lifecycle, representing the Service Transition function across the organisation.
Diagnose and resolve complex service transition issues, recommending improvements and implementing them in collaboration with stakeholders.
Maintain the Service Transition Dashboard, providing clear visibility into all service updates, and ensure accurate metrics are reflected in KPI and management reports.
Lead regular reviews of service transition processes with operational teams and contribute to ongoing service improvement efforts.
Stay current through internal and external training, using new expertise to support team capability and advise senior leaders.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, using the risk register to report gaps and contribute to continual service improvement initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
Active Security Clearance or be eligible to undergo SC Vetting (Full or Dual UK Citizenship)
Ability to travel to Milton Keynes 2–3 days a week
Proven experience in service transition within an IT environment.
A strong record of delivering against objectives and managing deadlines effectively.
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
Deep understanding of corporate values, behaviours, and strategic objectives.
Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Excellent communication skills—written and verbal—with the ability to convey technical concepts across diverse audiences.
A self-starter with a high level of initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure environment.
