Site Manager | Ever Thought About Going Freelance? | 18-Month Contract | Major Scotland Project

Your new company

Ever thought about freelancing – but never quite taken the leap?
This could be the perfect opportunity.

We are working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering one of Scotland's largest and most high-profile construction projects. Due to a significant phase of construction activity, they are looking to appoint experienced Site Managers on a freelance basis for a long-term assignment expected to last around 18 months.

Whether you're already operating as a freelance Site Manager or you're currently employed and curious about the benefits of contracting, this role offers the stability of a major project combined with the flexibility and earning potential that freelance work can provide.

With a well-established project team, strong site support and a long programme ahead, this is an excellent opportunity to gain freelance experience within a professional and highly structured environment.

Your new role

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing subcontractors and coordinating trades on site
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Monitoring progress against programme and reporting to senior site management
  • Conducting site inspections, quality checks and toolbox talks
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and the wider project team
  • Driving productivity and ensuring works are delivered to the required quality standards
  • Supporting the successful delivery of a large-scale, technically challenging project

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
  • Previous experience as a Site Manager on large construction projects
  • A strong track record of managing subcontractors and site teams
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certification
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to site management
  • Experience with major build projects would be advantageous
Applications are welcomed from both experienced freelancers and Site Managers considering their first move into contract work.

What you'll get in return

  • Long-term freelance contract with approximately 18 months of secured work
  • Opportunity to work on a landmark construction project
  • Competitive day rate
  • Supportive and experienced project team
  • Exposure to a major Tier 1 contractor environment
  • A fantastic opportunity to try freelancing without the uncertainty often associated with shorter-term contracts
  • Potential for further opportunities upon project completion
If you've ever wondered whether freelancing could work for you, this role offers an excellent chance to make the move while benefiting from the security of a long-term assignment on one of Scotland's most significant construction projects.
