As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at this consultancy, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
About the Role:
At this consultancy, they pride themselves on offering variety, support, training and mentoring, progression, and a broad range of exciting projects! They offer their clients pre-contract services, post-contract services, and final accounts, which means you get to see the full life cycle of quantity surveying, not just from your desk - they encourage being onsite and office-based from the start of your career with them.
As a Commercial / Project Assistant, you will be well-supported by a team of Quantity Surveyors, Managers, and Directors who will be on hand to learn from and ask questions of. Your role will be supporting the surveying team with the Quantity Surveying process, including:
Pre-contract services:
Measuring
Production of pricing (Bill of Quantities)
Tendering – talking to suppliers to obtain estimates based on the measurements and quantities provided
Post-contract services:
Management and administering of sub-contractor payments
Managing change or variations that occur throughout the process
Tracking project spend
Final Accounts:
Assist with the production and agreement of accounts on projects worked on
Assist with the preparation of financial reports as required
Assist with the preparation of final accounts and claim documents
What you'll need to succeed:
Whilst having experience in the quantity surveying industry would be beneficial, what's important is your enthusiasm, reliability, and commitment to your job and the business. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required, along with a high level of attention to detail and organisation. You will be dealing with suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients, so being able to communicate effectively and build working relationships is important.
