We are thrilled to be partnering exclusively with a respected public sector organisation based in Wakefield, currently seeking an
Assistant Management Accountant to join their dynamic and evolving finance team. This is a key role within a newly established function, offering the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial analysis and strategic insights. Your work will directly support informed decision-making across the organisation, helping to drive financial sustainability, enhance transparency, and improve operational efficiency.

Your new role

This role is ideal for a traditional Assistant Management Accountant who is looking to take on a more data and improvement-focused role. Daily duties will include:
  • Assist in delivering a professional business development function within a secure financial system's environment.
  • Develop and analyse financial and non-financial data to support strategic planning.
  • Prepare statutory and non-statutory returns, grant claims, and performance indicators.
  • Provide financial insight and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation in financial systems.
  • Mentor and support Apprentice Accounting Technicians.

What you'll need to succeed

  • AAT level 4 qualifications or above

  • Experience of working within an accounting function

  • Strong technical accounting skills and commercial awareness

  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to present complex data in accessible formats

  • A collaborative and detail-oriented approach

  • Experience in budgetary control, forecasting, and financial planning (desirable)
