Your new company

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organisation that plays a vital role in delivering essential services across the UK. With a strong reputation for innovation and long-term stability, the company offers a collaborative and supportive working environment where finance professionals can thrive and grow. Based in Chorley, the business operates across multiple sites and is committed to continuous improvement and professional development.

Your new role

As an Assistant Management Accountant, you’ll be a key part of the finance team, supporting the production and reporting of monthly management accounts. You’ll work closely with colleagues to ensure the accuracy of financial data, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to the robustness of profit and loss reporting. Your responsibilities will include preparing and posting month-end journals (including WIP, revenue, accruals, and prepayments), managing supplier payment runs, and supporting commercial teams with financial insights. You’ll also be involved in maintaining data integrity within SAP and Excel, and liaising with operational teams to resolve queries and ensure financial transparency.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience in a similar finance position, ideally with exposure to management accounts. A degree in Finance or Maths is desirable, or you should be actively working towards a recognised finance qualification. Strong IT skills, particularly in SAP and Excel, are essential, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues. Attention to detail, commercial awareness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving will set you apart.

What you'll get in return

You’ll receive a competitive salary based on experience, with annual reviews to recognise your contributions. The role offers genuine career progression opportunities, including pathways to Management Accountant and Finance Manager positions. You’ll benefit from comprehensive training and development programmes, generous holiday entitlement, a robust pension scheme, and access to flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle. Hybrid working is available, along with additional perks such as retail discounts, wellbeing support, and volunteering days.
