Your new company

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead our newly established SEN Hub from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and support a small group of pupils with additional needs, working closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. You will also be supported by an additional Learning Support Assistant within the hub.
Alongside your SEN Hub responsibilities, you may occasionally be asked to support in classrooms or supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absence.
We welcome applications from experienced HLTAs as well as candidates willing to undertake relevant HLTA or SEN training. What matters most is your commitment, adaptability and passion for supporting children with special educational needs.

Your new role

As an HLTA, you will play a vital part in the teaching and learning process. Your role will include:
  • Leading learning activities for individuals, small groups and, at times, whole classes
  • Supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including those with SEND
  • Working collaboratively with teachers to plan, deliver and evaluate learning
  • Using your specialist knowledge to help pupils access the curriculum and make strong progress
  • Contributing to assessment, feedback and the wider pastoral care of pupils
  • Acting as a positive role model and champion for inclusive practice
This role offers a balance of responsibility, creativity and professional autonomy, making it ideal for someone who wants to develop their career while making a meaningful difference every day.

What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds an HLTA qualification or is willing to undertake relevant training
  • Has experience working with children with SEN
  • Has a strong understanding of SEN practice and is keen to develop further expertise
  • Is familiar with the national curriculum and age-related expectations across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Is an excellent communicator and team player
  • Is committed to the well-being of pupils and staff
  • Understands and upholds the importance of safeguarding children

What you'll get in return

Working as an HLTA provides a rewarding and fulfilling career path, offering:
  • Greater professional responsibility while still working closely within a supportive team
  • Opportunities to develop specialist skills, particularly in SEND
  • A clear progression route for those considering future roles in teaching or leadership
  • Daily variety, with the chance to lead learning, support pupils and contribute to whole-school life
  • A strong sense of impact, knowing your work directly improves outcomes for children
  • Ongoing professional development, including training tailored to your strengths and interests
  • Enthusiastic, responsive children who take pride in their school and community
  • A friendly, supportive and dedicated staff team
  • High-quality professional development opportunities
  • A school committed to high standards and inclusive practice
