Your new role
In this Assistant Financial Accountant job, you will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible for supporting multiple business entities across the UK and group. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Drive accurate accounting and reconciliation of UK accruals, prepayments, and key balance sheet items.
- Lead intercompany reviews and reconciliations across UK and global entities, ensuring smooth cross-region alignment.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of fixed and intangible assets, from accounting to ongoing maintenance.
- Own month-end journal postings and deliver timely, accurate uploads.
- Manage intercompany trading entries and ensure clean, compliant elimination reconciliations.
- Produce clear, reliable VAT analysis each month, reviewing invoices and supporting quarterly submissions.
- Reconcile sundry debtor and creditor accounts, resolving discrepancies and maintaining clean ledgers.
- Support IFRS 16 lease accounting through detailed reviews and reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile property related provisions, utilities, and dilapidation accruals.
- Contribute to month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, year‑end audits, and wider ad‑hoc finance projects.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this Assistant Financial Accountant role, you will:
- Have recent, relevant experience working in a similar Assistant Financial/Management Accountant position
- Ideally, be actively studying towards a professional qualification (i.e. ACCA/CIMA)
- Have a strong understanding of double entry
- Ideally, have at least a basic understanding of IFRS16
- Have strong practical experience/understanding of assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, VAT returns and corporation tax
- Travel/Hospitality industry experience is advantageous (not essential)
- Have strong Excel skills - minimum level of intermediate, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS (please note that this will be tested at interview)
- You must have resided in the UK for a minimum of five years (due to enhanced personal security checks)
