An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bookkeeper / Finance Assistant to join a well-established property development and asset management business based in Preston. With a strong reputation built over decades, this organisation delivers high-quality developments across residential, commercial, retail, and industrial sectors, supported by their own funding sources and an in-house construction team that ensures full control and exceptional standards throughout every project.

Your new role

Due to continued expansion, the business is recruiting two Accounts Assistants / Bookkeepers on a permanent basis. You will support the day‑to‑day finance function, working across transactional accounting and bookkeeping duties while supporting senior finance colleagues as required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing purchase and sales ledgers

  • Processing invoices, expenses, and payments

  • Bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records

  • Assisting with month‑end preparation and reporting

  • Supporting the preparation of VAT returns

  • Working with external accountants where required

  • Providing financial admin support to project teams

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role

  • Experience gained within an accountancy practice is desirable

  • Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations

  • Confidence processing invoices, payments, and maintaining accurate records

  • Experience using accounting software (e.g., Zero, Sage, QuickBooks) is beneficial

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Ability to work well within a small, collaborative team

  • Competitive salary of £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 5:30pm. Friday: 8:30am – 1:00pm (half day)
