Hays are working with a leading international organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a fixed-term 11-month basis (This has the potential to turn p-erm for the right candidate). Your new role

As Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for analysing financial information and preparing reports to support business decision-making. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing, examining and analysing accounting records, financial statements and reports.
  • Developing, maintaining and analysing budgets, preparing periodic reports and identifying variances.
  • Supporting month-end accounting activities and financial reporting processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial controls, policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with tax-related activities, including the preparation of returns and supporting documentation.
  • Analysing financial data and communicating findings to internal stakeholders

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years' experience within a finance or accounting position.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and expense processing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, alongside wider Microsoft Office applications.

  • Competitive salary equivalent to £44,000 per annum.
  • Hybrid working arrangement, with a mix of office and home working (2 days home, 3 days office)
  • Full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Fixed-term contract running through to the end of June 2027.
