Assistant Accountant based in Rochdale

Your new company

We’re partnering with a well-established manufacturing business based in Rochdale. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis.

Your new role

As the Assistant Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Accountant and play a key role in supporting the wider finance function by:

  • Ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and reliable.
  • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any discrepancies.
  • Conducting compliance checks to uphold financial control standards.
  • Supporting supplier management processes, including validating updates to masterfile data.
  • Assisting with the administration and oversight of company credit cards.
  • Contributing to monthly and year-end reporting tasks.
  • Posting journals and managing data interfaces from other systems.
  • Aiding in the preparation of statutory and regulatory submissions, and supporting both internal and external audits.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will:

  • Possess a solid understanding of balance sheet reporting, financial controls, and accounting systems and procedures.
  • Have experience in performing reconciliations and supporting audit processes.
  • Be a confident communicator with strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and demonstrate high levels of accuracy and numeracy.
  • Be able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high professional standards.
