Assistant Accountant - Travel - £35k-£38k - Central London

Your new company
You will work for a private membership service that gives travellers access to specially negotiated rates, added perks, and curated stays at high‑end places around the world through a tech‑driven platform built on strong hospitality partnerships.

Your new role
This is a newly created role due to business growth, in which you will support the Head of Accounts with core finance processes including transaction processing (AP/AR), payroll support, and VAT preparation. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  • Assisting with month-end journal posting (accruals, prepayments)
  • Processing and execution of invoices and payments (ensuring correct VAT treatment, supporting documentation is in place etc)
  • Maintaining accurate financial and payment records
  • Investigation and resolution of supplier/payment queries
  • Daily bank reconciliation
  • Supporting month-end process
  • Supporting payroll preparation, checking data
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Supporting with financial transaction backlog clean-up
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis
  • Assist with audit
  • Managing quarterly and annual ABTA, ATOL and IATA reporting

What you'll need to succeed
  • Recent, relevant experience working in a similar Assistant Accountant role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant industry experience (i.e. travel/hospitality) is desirable, but not essential.
  • You will be accurate, detail oriented, well-organised and consistent, with a genuine desire to learn.
  • Maximum of 1-month notice period (immediate availability highly desirable)
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, including debits/credits
  • Excel and system knowledge (Sage desirable)
  • You must have legal right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
