Assistant Accountant job in Rosyth

Hays are proud to be supporting a well-established and growing organisation in their search for an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. The hours of work are Monday–Friday 8am - 4.30pm. The organisation offers hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The offices are based in Rosyth and can be accessed by local public transport and there is also on-site parking. Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Accountant and working as part of a collaborative finance function, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information. This is a varied position with exposure to core financial accounting processes and reporting.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Preparing and posting journals including accruals and prepayments
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with VAT returns and compliance
- Supporting the preparation of financial statements and audit requirements
- Conducting data analysis and reporting on financial performance
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Maintaining strong financial controls and supporting process improvements
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and external auditors
- Ad hoc reporting and finance support as required
What you'll need to succeed
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Accountant who is keen to add value to their next finance function OR a finance graduate at the beginning of their career who is eager to learn and develop. Study support can be offered if this is of interest to the successful candidate, but beginning your professional qualifications is not essential. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Good Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to prioritise and manage your workload effectively
