Hays Education is supporting a well‑established secondary school in central Bristol in the recruitment of a part‑time (0.6) Teacher of Art to cover a maternity leave. The school has a strong creative ethos, excellent facilities and a supportive Art department known for encouraging high‑quality, expressive and ambitious artwork from students.
Art is a popular and well‑resourced subject, with strong outcomes and high engagement at KS3 and GCSE.
Your new role
As a Part‑Time Art Teacher, you will teach across Key Stage 3 and GCSE, delivering creative, inspiring lessons that develop students’ technical and artistic skills. The school offers GCSE Fine Art and GCSE Photography, so experience teaching either or both would be highly desirable, though not essential for the right candidate.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress and contributing to the collaborative work of the department. This maternity cover will start in April and run for the duration of the leave.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge in Art & Design
- Experience teaching KS3 and GCSE Art
- Experience in GCSE Photography and/or Fine Art (desirable)
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
- A creative, enthusiastic and student‑focused teaching approach
- ECTs are welcome to apply
