Art Teacher Required ASAP

Your new school

Hays Education are working with a SEMH SEN school which provides a nurturing, trauma‑informed environment for pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4. The school places creativity, emotional wellbeing and positive relationships at the heart of learning, using the arts as a powerful tool for expression, regulation and engagement. Staff work closely as a supportive team, committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve personal success.

Your new role

We are seeking a passionate Arts Teacher to work full time from 1st May until the end of the academic year, delivering creative, engaging arts provision across KS2–KS4.

You will plan and deliver practical, accessible arts lessons that meet a wide range of needs, including pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The role involves building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviours, and adapting teaching approaches to support individual pupils. You will work collaboratively with other staff to ensure a consistent, child-centred approach.

Applications are welcomed from both qualified and unqualified teachers, including those with relevant experience in creative arts, youth work, SEN, or alternative provision.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A genuine passion for the arts and their impact on young people
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH or SEN settings (desirable, not essential)
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Confidence in delivering arts activities across a range of ages and abilities
  • A flexible, resilient and reflective approach to teaching and behaviour support
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a supportive specialist setting.
