Architectural technician-Graduate to senior candidates welcome


A developer is looking for a technician to join the team and is open to the candidate's background. You could be a graduate or senior in your experience. The role will vary dependent on your background, with more senior candidates leading the team.

Your new role

Senior technicians will be r esponsible for managing a team of technicians, providing support, guidance and setting workloads within the team whilst handling their own project workload. Feasibility and planning designs. You will work closely with all project stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, compliant with regulations, and implemented effectively.

(The role will involve all the below for senior candidates and a selection of the below responsibilities for more junior candidates.)
  • Manage a team of technicians, reviewing their work and managing workloads within the team.
  • Work closely with other team members to develop best practices and design standards within the team.
  • Contribute to internal design workshops, bringing innovative solutions and technical expertise to the team.
  • Mentor and support junior technicians, fostering professional development within the team.
  • Develop and refine feasibility stage designs, ensuring they meet the design brief whilst taking account of site constraints.
  • Produce high-quality 3D visualisations to accompany the planning submission pack.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to optimise building layouts and site planning.
  • Work alongside our in-house planning team to prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring compliance with national and local authority requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate design-related health and safety risks at each project stage.
  • Engage in relevant CPD events; to expand and update specialist knowledge relating to the profession
  • Lead and coordinate the early-stage design process, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Stay up to date with UK planning policies and building regulations.
  • Site Visits and Inspections

What you'll need to succeed

(Not all is essential for the role dependent on your level.)

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in architectural technology, building technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, with a strong understanding of 3D visualisation and rendering software packages.
  • Strong understanding of building construction, materials, and methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Planning, building regulations and associated standards.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.
