Air conditioning engineer, Full time, mobile, South West and Wales(Bristol HQ)

An exciting opportunity has become available within a successful and fast-growing electrical and mechanical services company based in Bristol.

Your new role
As an Air conditioning engineer, you will be working on a variety of contracts across the Southwest and Wales, including large hospitality chains and MOD sites etc...

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on air conditioning systems.
    Diagnose and repair faults on a variety of systems including:
    Split systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRV/VRF systems
  • Heat pumps
  • Packaged units
  • AHUs and associated ventilation equipment
  • Install new air conditioning systems to manufacturer specifications.
  • Commission newly installed equipment.
  • Carry out leak detection, refrigerant recovery and recharging in accordance with FGas
  • Regulations.
  • Replace compressors, fans, motors, expansion valves, PCB boards and other
  • mechanical/electrical components.
  • Complete emergency reactive call-outs within agreed response times.
  • Perform electrical fault-finding associated with HVAC equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance records, service sheets and commissioning documentation are
  • completed accurately.
  • Produce clear reports identifying defects and recommended remedial works.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, clients and site representatives.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools and specialist equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation.
  • Participate in the company's out-of-hours emergency call-out rota where required.
  • Support apprentices and trainee engineers where appropriate.
  • Attend manufacturer training courses and company development programmes.
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Follow all Gigawatt Electrical Services LTD safe systems of work.
  • Complete site-specific risk assessments and method statements where required
  • Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Report hazards, accidents and near misses promptly.
  • Ensure refrigerants are handled and disposed of in accordance with current
  • environmental legislation.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
  • Quality Responsibilities

  • Manufacturer guidance
  • Maintain accurate service documentation.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate must have the essentials below:

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent).
• Valid F-Gas Category 1 Certification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing commercial air conditioning systems.
• Strong fault-finding ability.
• Good electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• IT literate with the ability to complete digital service reports.
• Flexible approach to working hours.

Desirable:
IPAF Licence.
• PASMA Certification.
• CSCS or ECS Card.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Experience working in commercial and public sector buildings.
• Experience with VRV/VRF systems from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba and
Fujitsu.
• Experience of ventilation systems and AHUs.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
