Homeless Support Officer - Temp to Perm - Apply Now

We have an exciting opportunity for a Homeless Support Officer to join the team of a well-known housing association in South Manchester.

This is a full-time role 37.5 hours a week, on a rolling 6-week rota with the following shifts – 8am-4pm, 10am -5:30pm or 2pm–10pm and 1 in 6 weekends: Sat/Sun 9am–7pm.

There is potential for this role to go temp to perm after an initial period of 3 months, looking to start as soon as possible.

Must have an enhanced DBS and be comfortable with lone working where required.

Your new role

  • Support residents in temporary accommodation including self‑contained flats and HMO properties
  • Manage a caseload of 8–12 cases, providing tailored support to help them move toward independent living
  • Work both onsite and offsite, including lone‑working responsibilities
  • Handle duty days, responding to inbound queries and managing any issues that arise within the scheme
  • Oversee voids, move‑ins, and move‑on support from temporary accommodation
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, and contribute to a safe, supportive environment
  • Work collaboratively within a team, sharing information and supporting colleagues when needed

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong resilience and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • Confident crisis‑management skills and sound decision‑making
  • Ability to work independently during lone‑working periods
  • A team‑focused mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in homelessness services, supported housing, or a similar support role (desirable)
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and respond quickly to emerging issues
  • Empathy, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with vulnerable individuals
