A well‑established public sector organisation based in Edinburgh is seeking a proactive and highly organised Administrative Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary opportunity with the potential for extension, and the organisation is looking for someone who can start immediately and adapt quickly within a busy, fast‑paced environment.

Your new role
As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of administrative services across the organisation.
You will act as a first point of contact for general enquiries, provide comprehensive administrative support, and maintain accurate records, contributing to efficient day‑to‑day operations in a high‑volume setting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, formatting and issuing correspondence, reports and other documentation with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Acting as a first point of contact for general enquiries, responding professionally and directing queries as appropriate.

  • Providing administrative support to meetings, including scheduling, minute‑taking and follow‑up actions.

  • Maintaining accurate records, databases and filing systems, ensuring information is up to date and easily accessible.

  • Managing shared inboxes and daily workloads, prioritising tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines and service standards.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within a public sector or similarly fast‑paced environment.

  • The ability to quickly pick up new systems, processes and ways of working.

  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and working with databases and data‑driven systems.
