Permanent Accounts Manager job, for an SME company in the Macclesfield area.

Your new company
We are seeking an experienced, highly organised Accounts Manager to take ownership of our finance operations and day‑to‑day office management for a successful company. This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys working independently while supporting a small team.

Your new role
Reporting to the MD, your duties will be varied with no two days being the same. Main duties will include:
  • Maintain and update the SAGE database, including new customer creation and payment terms management.
  • Produce quotations, sales invoices and credit notes, including submissions via client platforms.
  • Processing salary payments and liaising with external Accountants.
  • Routine credit control, including liaison with debt collection when required.
  • Ensure timely billing of ad‑hoc work in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Maintain petty cash and monthly reconciliations.
  • Posting monthly salary journals.
  • Record and reconcile company credit card transactions; ensure accurate VAT coding and staff expense checking.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and organise timely PAYE/VAT payments to HMRC.
  • Manage supplier payments (UK & overseas) and reconcile bank accounts (current and deposit).
  • Quarterly management accounts reporting to the MD include: cashflow, profit & loss (year-on-year) and any anomalies.

What you'll need to succeed
This is a hands-on position, solely responsible for the finance of the company. Therefore, you will possess a strong track record of daily accounting duties and also management accounts and reporting. With strong attention to detail, being able to prioritise/be organised with an adaptable approach are essential to your success in this position. Able to work independently, you will have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with various external contacts and customers alike, as well as overseeing the office management and supervision of an office assistant.
