Accounts Assistant

Overview
We are seeking an organised and proactive Accounts Assistant to support the finance function with an equal focus on Credit Control and Purchase Ledger activities. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a desire to develop within a busy accounts team.


Key Responsibilities

Credit Control
  • Manage the debtor ledgers for all the different entities and businesses, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Issue statements, reminder letters, and follow up with customers by phone and email.
  • Resolve customer queries promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor credit limits and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Allocate and reconcile customer payments.
  • Prepare weekly aged debt reports and highlight risks or overdue accounts.
Purchase Ledger
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Match, batch, and code invoices to the correct legal entities (over 45 different businesses to be coded up)
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare payment runs (BACS/cheques) and ensure timely settlement of accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date supplier account information.
  • Support month‑end processes, including accruals and reporting.
Regular Daily tasks
  • Processing of financial transactions
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Sales, purchase and general ledger operations
  • Preparation of reports and accounts
  • Reconciliations
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Preparation of year end working papers
  • Regular reviews with the Estate and Finance teams
  • Working with Group Finance and Estate/business teams to ensure accurate data, providing analysis and reports

This is a temp to perm position so it needs to be someone who does want to stay permanently which is likely to happen after 4-6 weeks for the right candidate.

40 hours / office based - lovely team to work with

Ideally need to be able to drive due to the location in Hinton (near Christchurch)

£16.50 - £17.00 an hour
