Junior Accounts Assistant – Fantastic Opportunity to Grow Your Finance Career | Property Sector

Your new company

You will be joining a well‑established organisation within the residential property sector, known for managing a large portfolio across Prime Central London. You’ll be part of a small, supportive, and fast‑paced finance team that values collaboration and a proactive attitude. The environment is friendly, busy, and offers great exposure across both client accounting and purchase ledger activities.

Your new role

As a Junior Accounts Assistant, you will support both the Client Accounting function (around 60% of your role) and the Purchase Ledger team (around 40%). Reporting to the Credit Control Manager and Purchase Ledger Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial processing.

Client Accounting Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate tenant records, processing new tenants, leavers, and renewals in the property management system.
  • Issue rent, service charge, and contribution demands across various frequencies.
  • Download daily bank statements and allocate cash receipts.
  • Prepare weekly inter‑account transfers.
  • Take card payments and issue receipts when required.
  • Process tenant deposits and returns, ensuring full documentation.
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations.
  • Respond to tenant enquiries by email and phone.
  • Provide ad‑hoc support to senior finance staff.

Purchase Ledger Responsibilities

  • Review and post purchase invoices and payments with correct supporting details.
  • Ensure invoice approvals follow company policy.
  • Handle supplier queries via phone and email.
  • Process BACS payments and issue remittance advices.
  • Write and post cheques when needed.
  • File paid invoices accurately.
  • Set up and verify new supplier accounts.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience with Propman or similar property management systems.
  • Knowledge of the property industry.
  • Experience completing bank reconciliations.
