Accounts Assistant – Middleton - Immediate start

Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: Middleton, Greater Manchester
Reports to: Financial Controller
Salary: Up to £32,000
Contract Type: Temp

We are working with a growing pharmaceutical company based in Middleton, committed to delivering innovative healthcare solutions that improve patient outcomes. As part of their continued expansion, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the finance team.

Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance who is looking to develop their career in a fast-paced, regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process purchase invoices, credit notes, and employee expenses
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and cashbook maintenance
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with data entry
  • Help prepare VAT returns and other statutory filings
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers
  • Assist with audit preparation and year-end processes
  • Contribute to finance process improvements and system upgrades
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (ideally within a regulated or manufacturing environment)
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, SAP)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • AAT qualification (or working towards) is desirable
