A long‑established supply chain organisation based in Cardiff is seeking a dedicated finance professional to join its growing team. Known for its strong operational standards, collaborative culture, and commitment to continuous improvement, the business is expanding and strengthening its central functions. As part of this growth, the finance team plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining robust controls, and supporting wider operational performance. This is an on‑site position with the opportunity to move towards hybrid working overtime.
Your new role
In this finance support role, you will assist with the day‑to‑day financial processes that ensure smooth running of the organisation’s income, expenditure, and credit management activities. This varied position provides broad exposure across ledger maintenance, cashflow support, and credit control responsibilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing customer and supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and on time
- Monitoring aged debt and performing credit control activities, including chasing overdue payments via phone and email
- Managing customer credit limits, highlighting risks, and escalating concerns where appropriate
- Building and maintaining good relationships with customers to encourage timely payments
- Reconciling bank accounts, supplier statements, and customer accounts to maintain accurate ledgers
- Assisting with the maintenance of both purchase and sales ledger records
- Supporting month‑end and year‑end procedures, including ledger close‑down and financial reconciliations
- Reviewing supplier invoices for correct pricing, agreed terms, and goods receipt accuracy
- Investigating and resolving billing discrepancies, working closely with internal operational teams
- Preparing reports such as aged debtor and creditor summaries, credit exposure reports, and basic cashflow updates
- Assisting in setting up customer and supplier accounts and ensuring data accuracy
- Supporting improvements in financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Providing general accounts administration and supporting ad‑hoc tasks across the finance department

What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in a finance, accounts, or ledger‑focused environment
- Credit control experience, including managing overdue accounts and communicating with customers
- Good understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes
- Strong numerical ability, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Confident using accounting software and Excel
- Good communication skills with the confidence to speak with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise responsibilities, and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Awareness of financial compliance, data accuracy, and confidentiality
- AAT qualification or similar (beneficial but not essential)
