Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a well-established services group to recruit a hands-on & experienced Accounts Assistant for their growing finance team in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. Reporting to the Finance Manager within a close-knit team, the role will take control of all transactional finance duties including payroll, purchase/sales ledger, credit control through to reconciliations and month-end support. The position offers remote/office hybrid working once settled in of 3 days on-site, 2 days remote. Your new role
Your key duties will involve managing and processing all accounts payable & receivable invoices, along with related duties, supplier payment processing, bank reconciliations & credit control processes. You will process both weekly and monthly payroll with all payroll administration, dealing with any accounting/payroll queries, along with liaising with supplier/customers when needed. You will maintain accurate financial records & support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc duties, month-end close processes, along with process improvement initiatives as the business grows further.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Accounts Assistant role, you will need experience in a similar position, strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively. You will be a confident communicator to build internal/external relationships in a professional & approachable manner. You will be able to work independently but also be a team player with a proactive mindset. You will be adaptable to business needs, experienced in a range of financial systems with the use of MS Excel. You will be AAT qualified or qualified by experience & have knowledge of transactional finance processes. Experience with Xero financial systems and Payroll processes will be essential. Experience within a small/medium-sized business would be advantageous but not essential.
