Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger, Finance Assistant
Role Overview
This is a hands on Accounts Assistant position reporting into the Financial Controller, with responsibility for managing the purchase ledger and supporting wider finance operations. The role will suit someone comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers, including posting invoices and credit notes
- Preparing weekly supplier payment runs and managing bank lodgements
- Performing bank reconciliations and daily cashbook updates
- Reconciling supplier accounts and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with sales invoicing in collaboration with internal teams
- Processing and reconciling company credit card transactions
- Correctly coding the nominal ledger and supporting payment approvals
- Assisting with monthly management accounts preparation.
- Supporting UK VAT returns and ROI VAT returns
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar accounts role
- Experience using accounting systems (Sage 200 advantageous)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
