Financial Accountant – Summary
A qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent), the Financial Accountant supports the Finance Manager and CFO in managing the financial operations of the organisation. Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting, contract oversight, audit coordination, and ensuring compliance. The role contributes to strong governance and public interest outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Lead annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and management accounts.
- Produce financial statements and disclosures.
- Manage treasury functions and purchase orders.
- Oversee corporation tax and VAT.
- Prepare finance-related Board and Audit Committee papers.
Contract Oversight:
- Maintain and test audit year WIP returns.
- Support Contract Managers and suppliers with finance queries.
- Manage finance mailboxes and issue annual fee notices.
Audit Coordination:
- Lead external audit process and liaise with auditors.
- Support internal audit activities.
- Prepare audit-related committee papers.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent finance internally and externally.
- Communicate financial strategies and insights.
- Provide data analysis to support decision-making.
Other Duties:
- Deputise for the Finance Manager/CFO as needed.
- Ensure compliance with laws and internal policies.
- Perform other tasks aligned with business needs.
Working Arrangements
- Mostly remote working, with occasional travel to London as required.
