Cash and Banking Accountant
Your new company
Based in Inverclyde, our client is recruiting for an Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The hours of work are Monday–Friday 9am–5pm and the organisation offers hybrid working, 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The position is well suited to an experienced accounting professional who enjoys ownership of cash and banking processes.
Your new role
As Accountant, you will be responsible for the accurate posting, reconciliation and reporting of cash and bank transactions across multiple entities. You will play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting day‑to‑day banking activities and ensuring bank data is complete, accurate and audit‑ready.
You will work closely with colleagues across finance and treasury, contribute to cash flow reporting, and support continuous improvement across cash and bank processes.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing daily and month‑end bank account reconciliations and resolving reconciling items
- Posting incoming and outgoing cash transactions to the general ledger
- Ensuring compliance with cash handling, banking and reconciliation controls
- Supporting payment processing, bank account administration and banking queries
- Assisting with weekly cash flow reporting and audit preparation
- Managing cash activity across multiple bank accounts and legal entities
- Providing guidance and oversight where appropriate to junior team members
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have 2–4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance operations role, with a strong understanding of cash and bank reconciliation processes. Experience working in a multi‑entity environment is highly beneficial. You will be confident working with ERP systems (Oracle R12 or similar preferred) and have strong Excel skills. The role would also suit an ambitious graduate who is keen to begin their finance and accounting career.
