A large London-based charity is seeking a Financial Accounting Officer to join their busy team.

My client is a large, well-established London-based charity, which also has a presence across the UK.
Your new role
The role is Financial Accounting Officer. This is a long-term contract, expected to be for around 18 months. The role will include, but is not limited to the following:
- Reconciliation of the organisation's bank accounts- Reconciliation of the balance sheet
- Month-end journals and making corrections where necessary
- Fixed assets including preparing and running of monthly depreciation
- Reviewing the general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, including suspense, control and clearing accounts to identify discrepancies
- Managing the month-end timetable
- Proactive engagement with other departments to comply with and make improvements to month-end and year-end processes and ensure deadlines are met
- Uploading journals into the finance system for approval in compliance with the journals policy and month-end deadlines
- Performing key periodic processes, including reconciliation between finance and commitments ledgers and resolution of differences
- Managing monthly inter-company journal postings and preparation of inter-company reconciliations
- Processing of all payments using the most appropriate payment method, considering value and payment terms, ensuring appropriate authorisation and sufficient funds are available
- Ensuring bank accounts and bank mandates are kept up-to-date, including opening of new bank accounts and any alterations to arrangements with existing accounts
- Producing daily/weekly/monthly cash monitoring and forecasting spreadsheets
- Investing or calling back funds as required, under the direction of the Financial Accountants
- Collection of all monthly Direct Debits and verification of all new direct debit customers
- Banking services including recording and depositing of cheques and collection of foreign currency
- Providing accurate information for the annual statutory audits and internal audits, in line with timetables set
- Providing financial information, support and training to finance and non-finance colleagues to aid financial literacy, promote best practice use of finance systems and ensure compliance with financial control procedures
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will need previous experience within finance. If you were studying for a financial qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or AAT, this would be advantageous.
