Accounts Assistant - URGENT

Accounts Assistant - IMMEDIATE START REQUIRED

Pay Rate: £13.20 – £14.20 per hour (depending on experience)
Location: East Bristol
Employment Type: Full-time, In-Office
Contract Type: Temporary (Minimum 3 months), with the potential to extend or become permanent for the right candidate

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in East Bristol. This is a full-time, in-office temporary role for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension or permanent placement based on performance and business needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the accounts department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing financial data and maintaining subcontractor records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professionally answering incoming calls to the accounts department and greeting visitors at the office.
  • Processing supplier invoices using WorkflowMax and Xero accounting software.
  • Maintaining a live supplier invoice query tracker in Excel to monitor and resolve discrepancies.
  • Setting up new subcontractors via the HMRC CIS portal, WorkflowMax, Xero, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Carrying out general administrative tasks, including emailing CIS payslips to subcontractors.
  • Reviewing subcontractor insurance expiry dates and ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and compliant.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Prior experience in a finance or similar role.
  • Proficiency in Xero, WorkflowMax (desired), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with HMRC CIS processes and subcontractor onboarding (desired).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
