Accounts Assistant job in Frome

Hays are recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a successful and growing business based in Frome. Our client has a reputation for delivering excellent products and services to their customers.

Your new role
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for supporting the finance department with a range of accounting and administrative duties, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions and helping maintain efficient financial operations. Duties will include:
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders where applicable.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
  • Prepare supplier payment runs for approval.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records.
  • Raise and issue customer invoices.
  • Allocate customer receipts and maintain customer accounts.
  • Assist with credit control activities and debt collection.
  • Investigate and resolve customer account queries.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end close activities.
  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts.
  • Assist with accruals and prepayments where required.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • AAT qualification or currently studying towards AAT.
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accounts Administrator, or similar role.
  • Good understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
  • Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
