Your new role
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for supporting the finance department with a range of accounting and administrative duties, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions and helping maintain efficient financial operations. Duties will include:
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match invoices to purchase orders where applicable.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
- Prepare supplier payment runs for approval.
- Maintain accurate supplier records.
- Raise and issue customer invoices.
- Allocate customer receipts and maintain customer accounts.
- Assist with credit control activities and debt collection.
- Investigate and resolve customer account queries.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end close activities.
- Prepare account reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of management accounts.
- Assist with accruals and prepayments where required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- AAT qualification or currently studying towards AAT.
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accounts Administrator, or similar role.
- Good understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
- Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
