With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality vocational and academic programmes, the institution serves a diverse student population across multiple campuses. It maintains close partnerships with employers and universities to ensure its curriculum is responsive to local and national workforce needs and the college is also known for its supportive learning environment, innovative teaching practices, and dedication to continuous improvement. Due to further growth and expansion plans, the IT team is looking to recruit two new vacancies, one of which is a third line IT engineer.
Your new role
Reporting to the IT Service Desk Manager, this technical specialist will join this well-established team and work closely with the end users support team and wider college staff to provide a high level of support. The end user support team will handle first and second line queries, and as the technical specialist you will respond to and resolve all escalated issues, providing support across a wide range of systems and technologies. In addition to this, as technical specialist, you will also be involved in technical project work, which could relate to the migration of systems, introduction of new technologies and the setting up of new infrastructure at both existing and new sites. As a senior member of the team, you will also work closely with the end user support team to upskill team members.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess IT technical support experience, with specific experience providing second and third line support, ideally having worked in the education sector or in a user-facing role. You will have experience of providing support across a range of technologies, handling escalated issues, as well as experience of supporting project delivery.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be joining a well-established team which is expanding and, with further growth planned, this will allow for progression and for further career opportunities. You will receive a competitive salary of between £30,000 and £32,000, as well as an excellent benefits package. This includes 30 days holiday (plus bank), a local government pension scheme, access to healthcare and wellbeing benefits, free car parking and also subsidised food and drink when on site.
