Teaching Assistant – Year 9 (Secondary School) | Start ASAP

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in a secondary school setting? Hays Education is currently recruiting for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support Year 9 students in a well-regarded school in Wigan.

Your new role

You’ll be working closely with teaching staff to support pupils across a range of subjects, helping to improve engagement, confidence, and academic progress. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting young people during a key stage in their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to Year 9 students, including those with additional needs

  • Assist in lesson delivery and classroom management

  • Support pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis

  • Help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment

  • Liaise with teachers and SENCO to track pupil progress

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils (school-based or youth work)

  • A caring and proactive approach to supporting learning

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply through Hays)

  • Flexibility and resilience in a classroom setting
