Hays Recruitment is proud to have partnered with a two-form entry primary school in Winsford with an outstanding reputation as they are looking for an experienced and reliable teaching assistant due to a member of staff that is off due to long-term sickness. This is a full-time temporary contract starting in January that will last the remainder of the academic year. You will be joining a highly experienced and supportive year 6 team. You will work in collaboration with the class teacher and other teaching assistant to ensure the day-to-day running of the classroom, assist in the preparation of fun, engaging and stimulating learning materials. You will lead on small group support for 6 pupils with ALN (additional learning needs) that are working at varying levels (years 2 - 3). You will plan, prepare and deliver small group and 1:1 interventions in core subjects and use on-the-spot planning to tailor said interventions, associating them with pupils' key interests to promote their engagement and focus. Other duties will include:

  • 1:1 reading sessions

  • Introducing into new pupil groups

  • Direct liaison with parents/guardians and the head teacher, giving accurate feedback on pupils' progress and recognising key milestones

  • Assisting with SATS preparation, including scribing towards the end of the academic year


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, full "Right to Work" in the UK, and:

  • Sound knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 national curriculums
  • Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience supporting ALN
