Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom.
  • Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Assisting pupils with SATs preparation and consolidation of key skills.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Supporting pupils with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents where appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Be confident supporting Year 6 pupils across core subjects.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be patient, nurturing, and committed to helping children succeed.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Dedicated support from a specialist Hays Education consultant.
  • Access to free CPD and professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible employment options to suit your needs.
  • Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent positions.
If you are a passionate Teaching Assistant looking to make a difference in Year 6 and would like to learn more about this opportunity, we would welcome your application.
