Hays Education are currently supporting a school in St Helens to recruit an experienced teaching assistant for an ongoing long-term role in Year 5.

The role is to start from 3rd November 2025 and will be full-time, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm

Your new role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Year 5 classroom in a vibrant primary school in St Helens.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with SEN, to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
• Assist with classroom management and preparation of learning materials.
• Work closely with the SENCO and other staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
• Foster a positive, nurturing environment that promotes confidence and independence.
• Support the children in their emotional development

What you'll need to succeed

• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (Desirable but not essential).
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive, with a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
• Full right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
• Knowledge of Safeguarding
• Experience working with children
