Year 5 maternity cover – Chester
Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Chester to recruit a committed and passionate Year 5 Teacher for a maternity cover role starting in September 2026.

Your new company
You will take full responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 curriculum. The school is seeking an enthusiastic teacher who can inspire pupils and maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
Your new role
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents
- Contribute to the wider life of the school
What you’ll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable but not essential)
- Strong classroom management skills
- A commitment to raising attainment and supporting all learners
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
